What to Expect After Opting Out

  • Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. Mail already printed can still arrive.
  • Policy mail is separate. Customers still get account and policy mail after marketing stops.
  • Prescreened credit and insurance offers also opt out through OptOutPrescreen, the federal bureau opt-out. That path is not the same as Amica’s own marketing list.

Why Do You Receive Amica Mail?

Amica is the 1907 mutual insurer. A.T. Vigneron founded the Automobile Mutual Insurance Company of America in Providence, and Amica is the oldest mutual insurer of automobiles in the United States. Offices moved to Lincoln, Rhode Island in 1994. They still sell the policyholder-owned story and service any time, day or night. Customers still get account and policy mail after marketing stops.

You get promotional mail about insurance if they are prospecting you, or if you already have a policy. You insured the first car, and the home and umbrella offers kept the address.

How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively

  1. DMAchoice

DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.

  2. OptOutPrescreen

OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.

  3. PaperKarma

For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.

Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)

A promotional opt-out stops Amica marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.

Go to the Unsubscribe page, or call +1-800-242-6422, and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of paper mailings.
