Current opt-out methods for Uber mail
-
Do Not Mail form
Go to Uber's Do Not Mail form. Put the first name, last name, street address, city, state, and ZIP as printed on the mailer. Submit.
-
PaperKarma app
Photograph the Uber mailer. PaperKarma files the opt-out for you.
Once you opt out of this sender, you can opt out of 100,000+ other mailers in the same app.
What to Expect After Opting Out
- Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. An offer already labeled can still arrive.
- Trip receipts are separate. Stopping promotional mail does not stop a ride, Eats, or billing notice on an account you still have.
- A later list add-back can start it again. A later ride or Eats order can put the address back on a file.
Why Do You Receive Uber Mail?
Uber Technologies, Inc. is a ride-hail and delivery platform. The company calls itself the largest mobility platform in the world. Riders book cars, reserve trips up to 90 days ahead, and send packages the same day. Uber Eats handles meals and grocery delivery. Uber Freight books truck loads. Uber for Business tracks work travel and meal programs. Drivers and couriers earn on the same app. Headquarters sit at 1725 3rd Street, San Francisco. They have pledged a zero-emission platform by 2040. The leftover mail is a promotional mailer, not a trip receipt.
You get that mail if you rode, ordered delivery, opened an account, or landed on a list they mail. The leftover packet is often a promo after you already deleted the app. A later ride or Eats order can put the address back on.
How to Prevent General Junk Mail Proactively
-
DMAchoice
DMAchoice is the Association of National Advertisers' mail preference service. An $8 registration asks about 1,100 participating national companies to suppress your address from prospect promotional mail for 10 years. It does not cover local mailers, charity appeals, companies you already buy from, or occupant / current-resident saturation mail. Allow 90 days or longer.
NOTE: DMAchoice will not stop mail from Uber as it is not an active member of the ANA.
-
OptOutPrescreen
OptOutPrescreen is the official Consumer Credit Reporting Industry site. It lets you opt out of firm offers of credit and insurance for 5 years or permanently.
NOTE: OptOutPrescreen will not opt you out of Uber mail. It only covers prescreened credit card and insurance offers.
-
PaperKarma
For local and regional mailers, coupon packs, charity donation requests, and the large share of junk mail that DMAchoice does not cover, the PaperKarma app has the largest U.S. registry, with over 100,000 mailers on file.
Your Data Privacy Rights (CCPA & Beyond)
A promotional opt-out stops Uber marketing mail. It does not always stop the underlying address from being shared. If you live in a state with an active consumer privacy law (California’s CCPA and several others), you can request access to or deletion of your personal information, and you can opt out of sale, share, or targeted advertising.
Go to the Privacy Notice page and ask for a deletion or do-not-share request, and to opt out of postal marketing.
Frequently asked questions
How long until Uber mail stops?
Allow 8 to 12 weeks. Print runs are scheduled in advance. If an offer arrives during that window, it was likely already printed and labeled before your request was processed. Ride, Eats, and billing notices can still arrive if you have an account.
How do I stop Uber mail for a previous resident?
Use the PaperKarma app to scan the mailer, mark the recipient as a previous resident, and submit the opt-out. Do not mark the person as deceased unless they are deceased.
Will Uber mail stop if I move?
Not automatically. Marketing lists are tied to a specific name and address. A USPS forward can send a few more packets to the new address. Call again for the new address, or use the PaperKarma app there.
