What Personal Information does PaperKarma require during registration?

When you create an account with PaperKarma, your name, email and home (or business) addresses are collected. Your email is used for signing in and for receiving newsletter communications and communications related to the status of your junk mail “unsubscribe” requests. Your email is not in any way shared with anyone.

What other information does PaperKarma collect and how is it used?

Images that you upload are kept on our servers. They are used to identify the publication/mail/etc. The images are associated with your account and are shared with the original sender to help unsubscribe you. We request you add a phone number because certain mailers require it for unsubscribing. It is optional and rarely used. You may choose to link your Facebook or Twitter account for posting your success stories – at your discretion, of course. We may also ask for demographic information, such as birthday or gender. These are fully controlled by you, and will not be shared.

Information We Collect Automatically

If you visit our website, your web browser automatically sends us (and we may retain) information such as the:

• Internet domain through which you access the Internet (e.g., yourServiceProvider.com if you use a commercial Internet service provider);
• Internet Protocol address of the computer you are using;

We reserve the right to retain all information provided for as long as the information is needed.

Where is my personal information stored?

Your Email and Home/Business addresses are kept on our servers which reside on Amazon’s EC2 cloud service. These are limited access data-centers. Your data are secured via Firewall and all communication goes through a SSL connection.

Who is my information shared with?

PaperKarma® does not sell, trade, or rent your information to third parties. We only share your information for the purposes of fulfilling your request to unsubscribe with the original sender (who generally has your information already). The shared information includes the uploaded image, your name, and your physical address. Certain companies require a phone number (rare). We will never share your information due to a creative interpretation of our privacy policy. You either request that we share, or else we won’t. There is no grey area.

How do I update or modify my account information?

You can modify the name and the address associated with your account at any time via the app.

How do I permanently delete my account & information?

Please contact human@paperkarma.com for account deletion.

How will I know when this Privacy Policy is updated?

As we continue to offer our customers new and improved services, we may modify our information collection/use practices. Should there be a material change, it will be reflected here in the Privacy Policy.

Privacy of Children on our website

To ensure compliance with Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998, PaperKarma does not knowingly maintain information provided by children under the age of 13.
